Do I Need LEV Testing?
If your business uses local exhaust ventilation to control exposure to hazardous substances, the system should be maintained and thoroughly examined and tested at suitable intervals. For many LEV systems, HSE guidance refers to testing at least every 14 months.

When this normally applies
LEV is common in joinery workshops, welding and fabrication shops, school DT rooms, dental labs, spray booths and other sites where dust, fume, mist or vapour needs to be captured close to the source.
What to check first
Look for extraction hoods, arms, booths, benches, on-tool extraction units, ducting, collectors or filters. If that equipment is part of how you control exposure, the record trail matters.
